Assembly secretariat officials confirmed that the BAC will reconvene on Tuesday, Feb 10, to finalize the detailed programme for the sixth session of the ninth assembly, which governor Gen VK Singh has summoned to begin on Feb 17.As per the BAC’s earlier decision, the session will run until March 12, spanning 16 days. On the opening day, governor Singh will deliver his customary address, followed by a motion of thanks and debate on Feb 18.A retired senior assembly official said this appears to be the first time the BAC has had to alter its session calendar within a day of finalising it. “Traditionally, we consulted the state finance department before fixing the date for budget presentation, based on its readiness,” he said.
