Kanpur: A group of youths assaulted a BCom student and fired in air in Kakadeo on Monday night. Kakadev police have registered an FIR on the victim’s complaint and took some youths into custody. The video of the assault went viral on social media. Aman Sonkar, a resident of Gita Nagar and a BCom student, said he went with his friends on Monday night to have tea near Manas Manch Park in Pandu Nagar. Some youths, drinking alcohol near the park, hurled abuses at them, he alleged. On objecting, they chased them while firing in the air with a pistol.Aman said that he reached near a restaurant in Pandu Nagar, where the miscreants surrounded him and assaulted him. Restaurant employees saved him. he said. ADCP Central Archana Singh said that a report was registered against the accused and, based on the viral video, teams were formed to arrest the accused.
