8:16pm Forde appears to have shouldered somebody in the back during the ‘discussions’, judging by RTE pictures. Didn’t look red-worthy if that was the offence picked out. Barrett was jostling in there too.

8:13pm: 30,910 is the attendance, confirms Eoghan Cormican down in Pairc, a modern record for a regular league fixture.  Ask John Fogarty what modern means, not sure about the cutoff. Let’s see if Eoghan saw the row.

38 mins: The notebook is out. Couple of yellows. Connolly and Connors. All grand so… hold on. Reds for Shane Barrett and Jason Forde. Neither recipient agrees with this verdict. Half-time. Ben O’Connor has his say with the referee, then Liam Cahill has a little chat too. We await evidence for the prosecution. Cork four up at the break and value for it.

36 mins: Three minutes have passed and Liam Gordon still looks perplexed as to what he might do about this. He is consulting his officials. Linesman Johnny Murphy appears the more vocal as it was his side of the field. The players appeared to have moved on with their lives though and are chatting among themselves. It’s nearly half-time anyway.

33 mins: More rooting. This time flashpoint seems more serious. A lot of players involved. Unclear what sparked it, well away from the ball. Even the two goalies out in the middle of the field. Defusing the situation seems nobody’s priority as things rumble on. Mostly handbags mind you.

30 mins: Jake Morris catch, turn, run and score. Mark Coleman replies 16-11. Seamus Kennedy responds the other way. Basketballish.16-12

29 mins: Darragh Fitz races towards Tipp goal but shot was hooked. Eoin Downey launches his second point, off left this time. Five in a row again for Cork. 15-10

26 mins: D Healy point for Cork. Rebels forwards thriving whenever they get ball in any kind of space. 14-10. First bit of rooting. The captains getting a lecture. Not much in it. Johnny Ryan is back for Tipp. Jason Forde puts a free wide. Ref takes pity on us all and slows down the Cork puckout.

25 mins: Barrett sweet point for Cork. EC says; The three-man inside line of the Pat Ryan era not in play here. Corner-forward William Buckley has been given permission to bring Cathal O’Reilly wherever he pleases.

24 mins: Alan Connolly has though, another for him. 11-10. Ben O’Connor suggesting Tipp are eating into the sinbin with slow puckouts.  Can’t slow down Connolly tho. He has another. 12-10

23 mins: He lands another from downtown. 10 all. Tipp have done well with 14. Though Therese notes: No Tipp forward has scored from play since the 6th minute.

22 mins: Jason Forde first point from a free. 10-9.

21 mins: Forget all that.. Willie steps out of the pocket to drive over the bar from halfway. An excuse to get out the Willie thorn in Cork side line..

20 mins: Eoghan Cormican says: Willie Connors, as he was for a spell of the All-Ireland final, is dropping back to sit in the pocket and operate as a seventh Tipp defender. Has picked up plenty of loose ball in the opening quarter, particularly when a Tipp colleague manages to spoil an incoming delivery from their opposite red number, but Tipp have yet to point from an attack initiated by their sweeper.

19 mins: Conor Stakelum steadies Tipp ship after Seamus Kennedy found him. SOme delightful meandering from Kennedy before releasing the pass. Eoin Downey replies for Cork. 10-7.

18 mins: Tipp have gone completely out of the game the last five minutes.

17 mins; Rhys Shelly saves Dec Dalton’s penalty. But Darragh Fitz points from next play. Five in a row for Cork, three for Fitzgibbon. Dalton didn’t really catch that pen. 9-6

16 mins: Shane Barrett pulled down for a Cork penalty and, you’d imagine, a black card. Yes, Johnny Ryan will get a rest here. Will Cork take over now?

15 mins: Alan Connolly isolates Johnny Ryan and gets away to score. Cork lead by 2 and look to be getting on top of Tipp.

14 mins: Shane Barrett sprints away from Connors to fire over for a Cork lead. 7-6

13 mins: Don’t think there’s been a free since first minute but there’s one now for Cork. Pace of game has been good. Alan Connolly sticks it over. All square at 0-6.

12 mins: Sam o’Farrell off the mark, lofting over from the left sideline. William Buckley immediately responds.

10 mins: Almost a beautiful Cork goal after Darragh Fitz found Dalton, who batted wide. The pick out was quality. Craig Morgan doesn’t miss when an effort from middle of the field. Tipp lead again.

9 mins: Willie Connors finding himself as the spare Tipp defender a few times already. No stopping Darragh Fitz here who cuts inside Seamus Kennedy for his second point.

8 mins: Diarmuid Healy drives over from centre field after a neat turn away from his marker. One in it. Andrew Ormond drops one short for Tipp

7 mins: The quick puckouts after a wide are not ideal for a live blogger.

6 mins: Both sides appear to have a spare defender. Unsure who initiated a sweeper if anyone?

5 mins: Andrew Ormond point after Pat Collins puckout goes awry. Ormond then gets another. Tipp looking quite slick.

4 mins Mark Coleman strides up the Cork left and strikes over on the run from the sideline. Great score. Desmond as they’d say on Soccer Saturday. Oisin O strikes wide.

3 mins: Youngster Oisin O’Donoghue adds Tipp’s second after Jake Morris threatened to drive for goal. Darragh Fitz opens account for Cork.

2 mins: Jake Morris swings over the first point of the night from outside the 45. Dec Dalton almost responded immediately but drifted it wide from the sideline.

1 min: Jason Forde fires the first free from long range but drops it short.

7:30pm: They are up and running. Pitch looking very good.

7:28pm: The two number 10s are captains – Darragh Fitzgibbon and Jake Morris. Jake won the toss. TOC

7:21pm: TOC: The PA has welcomed Tipperary to Páirc Uí Chaoimh as reigning All -Ireland champions. Big cheer from the travelling Tipp supporters.

Therese O’Callaghan:

It must have been a strange evening for Patrick Horgan, who was on the sideline with Noel Furlong as part of his U20 hurling management team.

After 18 seasons that included four All-Stars, he announced his retirement from intercounty hurling last September.

Therese O’Callaghan reports: With both teams getting ready for the upcoming championship, they will take a lot from this workout.

Freetakers Barry Walsh top scored for Cork with 1-7, and it was his goal from a 20 metre free two minutes from half-time that yielded a 1-13 to 0-12 interval advantage.

Noel Furlong’s side then took control when captain Barry O’Flynn fired an excellent goal to the far corner of the net in the 47th minute, 2-17 to 0-14.

Placed ball expert Darragh Ryan was the main contributor for Rónán Joyce’s team with a contribution of eleven points (10 frees).

6:15pm: We’ll be with you with updates from a mouth-watering Allianz League Division 1A tie, with both sides on 100% records after their first two games. Throw-in is at 7:30pm.

A massive crowd is expected with the record set at the Páirc last year under threat.

Dalo’s verdict: Tipp won’t take a backward step but  Cork’s intent is greater.

Christy O’Connor says Cork are hoping now that a black winter has transformed them into a different animal.
