Lucknow: A day after flagging lapses in cleanliness and instances of negligence in Diamond Dairy Colony, Hussainganj, during a surprise inspection, finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna revisited the area on Saturday to assess compliance with the instructions issued earlier.Khanna, who is also Lucknow in-charge minister, had inspected sanitation arrangements in various wards of Zone-1 at around 7 am on Friday, during which he flagged poor cleanliness and other shortcomings. He had expressed strong displeasure with the officials concerned and staff and directed immediate corrective action.
During his follow-up visit, Khanna reviewed the ground situation and found that sanitation work was in progress and that a substantial part of the cleaning was completed. He also noted that illegal encroachments identified earlier were removed by the municipal corporation. Khanna instructed the municipal commissioner to develop an open gym at the site freed from encroachment and to ensure proper barricading of the area with grills. He said the site would be inspected again after 20 days to review compliance. Stressing the importance of accountability, Khanna said negligence in sanitation work would not be tolerated. He asked officials to closely monitor cleanliness-related activities and to conduct regular field inspections to maintain standards.
