Chennai: Health minister Ma Subramanian on Monday distributed laptops to 2,040 college students under state government’s ‘Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil’ scheme at Guru Nanak College on Velachery Main Road.The event was held in Adyar zone, ward 172, as part of the statewide roll-out of the scheme launched by chief minister M K Stalin on Jan 5, at Nandambakkam Trade Centre. The initiative aims to distribute 10 lakh laptops to students pursuing arts, science, engineering, agriculture and medical courses. The laptops come with Intel i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 processors, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, Windows 11 Home and BOSS Linux operating systems. MS Office 365 and a six-month subscription to AI tool Perplexity Pro have also been pre-installed.The minister urged students to use the devices to strengthen their technical skills and improve academic performance.
