Kolkata: The city is likely to get light to moderate rain on Tuesday, the Met office has predicted. The city will get a rainy day after close to four months if the prediction comes out correct.While warm southerly and south-easterly wind is injecting moisture into the land, another weather system — a trough line that runs from Gangetic Bengal to north coastal Andhra — is increasing the chances of rain.

“The chance of rain in Kolkata on Tuesday is about 60%, while thunderstorm is likely in North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, and East and West Midnapore. We are getting moist wind in the lower system that is injecting moisture from the sea,” said meteorologist HR Biswas, head of the Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata.On Monday, at 31.2°C, it was 0.7 notches above the normal mark. The minimum temperature breached 20°C on Sunday and stood at 20.6°C on Monday, 1.1 notches above normal. The Met officials said that even if it rains, it will not make much impact on the mercury.
