Patna: A medicine shop owner was found hanging at his residence under the Brahmapura police station area in Muzaffarpur district on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Jitendra Kumar Pandey (47), a resident of Sanjay Cinema Road.According to police, the family members of the shop owner were out of town at the time of the incident. The matter came to light on Saturday morning when there was no movement from his room for a long time. His brother repeatedly called out to him but received no response, after which the police were informed. The door, which was locked from inside, was broken open in the presence of police, and Pandey was found hanging from a noose.Brahmapura SHO Vijay Lakshmi reached the spot with her team and thoroughly inspected the area. The team collected necessary evidence, and after completing formalities, the body was sent to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for post-mortem.The SHO said, “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. The room was locked from inside. Every possible angle is being examined. Police are trying to ascertain whether Jitendra was under mental stress or if there was any major business-related issue. His mobile call details are also being scrutinised.”She added that police are questioning Pandey’s brother and other family members to gather clues about the possible reasons behind his death.
