Lucknow: To strengthen sanitation services and safeguard worker health, Lucknow Municipal Corporation has made annual medical check-ups and cancer screening mandatory for all sanitation workers.Municipal health officer, Dr PK Srivastava, has directed all zonal sanitary officers to get annual health examinations and cancer screening of sanitation workers within a week. The order applied to all regular, contractual, and outsourced sanitation workers.
The tests will be carried out at the nearest govt hospital, any of the 108 Urban Primary Health Centres or the city’s 8 Urban Community Health Centres. The directive was issued keeping the ongoing Swachh Survekshan in mind, with the objective of improving health monitoring of sanitation workers and strengthening the city’s cleanliness system.Officials were instructed to prepare reports in the prescribed format after the medical examination and submit them within 1 week. They were also asked to compile and provide all related documents, including medical prescriptions, investigation reports, and OPD slips.
