Measures to resolvewaterlogging

Lucknow: In what could bring relief to around 2,500 residents of Gudamba Bagiya Colony on Kursi Road, municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Tuesday ordered immediate solution to the long-pending waterlogging problem in the area. The colony, which has over 70 houses, has been facing serious drainage issues for a long time. Residents told the commissioner that earlier, rainwater and wastewater flowed out through a nearby vacant plot. However, after the Sports College administration constructed a wall near that plot, the natural outlet for water was completely blocked. As a result, water started accumulating inside the colony, causing problems in daily movement and sanitation, and posing health risks.

During the site inspection, locals explained how waterlogging worsened during the rainy season and how even routine household water had no proper exit. Taking note of the situation, the municipal commissioner directed Zone-7 executive engineer Sanjay Pandey to coordinate with the Jalkal Department and ensure temporary drainage arrangements to remove the accumulated water.
