MCG moves to build Rs 9 crore community centre in Nathupur

Gurgaon: After years of demand from residents, the MCG has initiated the process to construct a community centre in Nathupur village at an estimated cost of Rs 9.5 crore. The civic body on Wednesday began the procedure to hire a private firm to execute the project, which is slated to be completed within one year of the work order being issued. Officials said the proposal for the facility was submitted by the local councillor following repeated requests from villagers. Ward No. 1 councillor Sunder Singh said the lack of a community centre had long been a major concern for residents. “There is currently no community centre for the people of Nathupur. I submitted a proposal to the MCG, following which they initiated the process to hire a contractor for the construction,” he said.According to the proposal prepared by the civic body, the community centre will come up on nearly 1.9 acres of land in Nathupur village. A large hall with a capacity of around 1,700 people will be the main attraction, making the facility suitable for social, cultural and community events. The plan also includes substantial parking provisions, with space for 93 cars in the basement and 62 vehicles on the ground floor. In addition to the main hall, the building will have four rooms and a conference room. The ground floor construction will span approximately 2,314 square metres. Once completed, the community centre is expected to strengthen social infrastructure in Nathupur and serve the needs of its growing population.
