TNNLudhiana: Door-to-door lifting of cow dung has started at the Haibowal dairy complex after the Municipal Corporation (MC) initiated work through a hired contractor as part of efforts to rejuvenate Buddha Dariya. The contractor’s staff has started collecting cow dung directly from dairy units and is transporting it to a designated site identified by the civic body. The contractor is also responsible for further disposal of all dung collected from the units.
The civic body allotted a three-year tender for door-to-door lifting of cow dung under the guidance of outgoing MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal. Officials said the aim is to prevent dairy waste from being dumped into sewer lines or directly into Buddha Dariya, which has long suffered pollution from such practices.MC officials stated that cow dung lying in the open within the dairy complex will also be cleared by teams in the coming days. They added that strict action will be taken against anyone still found dumping cow dung in sewer lines or in Buddha Dariya. In cases of repeated violations, the civic body will initiate stringent legal proceedings.Officials appealed to dairy owners to cooperate and stop dumping waste into drains or the water body, stressing that the goal of rejuvenating Buddha Dariya cannot be achieved without the active support of residents and dairy operators. They noted that cow dung disposal has been a persistent issue for dairy units, and with the new system now operational, people are expected to get some relief.MSID:: 127146698 413 |
