Ludhiana: The ongoing delay in securing land needed to provide direct access to the birthplace of martyr Sukhdev Thapar in Naughara Mohalla has prompted another official communication, with SDM East issuing a fresh letter to the office of the MC commissioner.

The letter, sent in connection with a communication issued in the first week of January, once again clarified that the municipal corporation is the designated acquiring department for the project and is responsible for taking possession of the required property.According to the letter dated Jan 15, the SDM East office had, on March 17, 2025, announced an award for acquiring 44.50 square yards of land belonging to Property No.

B-4-1837. The structure standing on this site has been identified as the obstacle preventing direct access to the birthplace of Shaheed Sukhdev. The letter reaffirmed that the acquiring department in this matter is the municipal corporation, underscoring the need for the civic body to proceed with necessary steps.
