Lucknow: Police registered a case against a man and his three associates for allegedly raping a woman for years and threatening to circulate her photos and videos, while mounting pressure on her for religious conversion. The main accused was arrested after the survivor filed a complaint.The woman told police that her father’s death in 2013, when she was 16, had disturbed her peace of mind. She said Aamir Zaidi, son of Haider Ali, resident of Birpur area of Kanpur district, exploited her taking advantage of her condition. He recorded a video and threatened to circulate it.
According to the woman, on Sep 18 last year, her family fixed her engagement with a boy of their caste. The engagement took place on Oct 29 and Feb 14 was fixed as the wedding date.She alleged that Aamir Zaidi, along with his associates Sunny Abbas, Rizvi and Raja alias Akhtar Ansari, tried to convert her to their religion. Zaidi threatened to circulate photos and videos if she did not give in to their demand.The woman accused Zaidi of contacting her fiance too and issuing life threats to him and his family.Ghatampur police inspector Dinesh Singh Bisht said a report was registered under sections of rape, POCSO Act, IT Act, Religious Conversion Prohibition Act and issuing threats. He said the accused would be presented in court and sent to jail.
