During the probe, police noticed inconsistencies in Pramod’s statement. Scrutiny of Pramod’s bank loan and credit card records revealed heavy spending during his stay in Bengaluru a few months ago. Investigators said since 2024, Pramod secretly pledged his grandmother’s ornaments with banks and private financiers for 4.6 lakh. As the family members discussed using his grandmother’s jewellery for his elder brother’s wedding, Pramod panicked. As per the plan, on Feb 9, he staged an offence by hiding some jewellery in another apartment block and dumping empty jewel boxes in the Musi nala near his house before alerting the family members and calling the police. tnn
