AHMEDABAD: A 32-year-old man was shot in the leg, allegedly by the brother of his girlfriend, on Sunday morning, police said. The accused, identified as Montu Desai, 32, a resident of Patan, is absconding.This was the second firing in two days and it called into question the city police’s ability to prevent crime.
According to Sola police inspector K N Bhukan, the complainant, Prakash Rabari, 32, working with a financial recovery firm, was targeted near Ugati Chowk in Chanakyapuri. “The complainant and the sister of the accused have been in a relationship for eight years. There was a community dispute, following which the members of their communities decided that the relationship should end,” Bhukan said. On Feb 15, both Rabari and Desai were in Ahmedabad and reportedly met earlier in the day. Later, near Ugati Chowk, the accused and his aides confronted Rabari. During the confrontation, Desai allegedly fired two rounds from a revolver, one of which struck Rabari in the leg. On Friday, a 41-year-old tea vendor was injured after being shot in Fatehwadi.
