Hyderabad: A man was arrested in Medak district on Saturday night for allegedly killing his friend after a drunken argument over 23.According to the Chegunta police, Mohammed Siraj, 30, was found dead on Thursday with multiple injuries, including on his head.
Accused Mahesh Kumar confessed to the police that he and Siraj, both drunk at the time of the incident, had an argument over repayment of the money, which led to the murder.
The duo, both construction workers, were roommates and hailed from Uttar Pradesh. “On Jan 15, the two friends decided to drink alcohol since it was Sankranti. They consumed liquor under a tree on the Ananthasagar suburbs. It was then Kumar insisted that Siraj return 23 that he had borrowed from him long ago. An argument broke out between them, and Kumar slammed Siraj’s head to the tree,” deputy superintendent of police (Toopran) Narender Goud said.
The accused also hit Siraj on the head with a stone, and fled the spot after confirming his death. The police caught Kumar on the Masaipet outskirts, and seized a blood-stained shirt and the stone, which he used to kill Siraj, from him.
