GURGAON: A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his friend and dumping his body in a drain, over a grudge related to the latter’s relationship with his sister.The accused, Jishan, a barber by profession and a resident of Chuchela Kalan village in Amroha district of UP, was arrested on Feb 2. The victim, Suheb (27), was also from the same village and worked at a salon in Jai Vihar.
According to the police, Jishan called Suheb to Gurgaon on the pretext of some work. After he reached Jishan’s rented house, the accused allegedly gave him alcohol and strangled him with an electric wire on the intervening night of Jan 24 and Jan 25.Police said the body was kept inside the room for nearly 24 hours before it was wrapped in a blanket and dumped in a dirty drain near Prakashpuri Chowk on Jan 26.To mislead the police, Jishan accompanied Suheb’s family to the police station and filed a missing persons complaint, claiming that Suheb went to Delhi’s Mustafabad area for work and did not return. An officer said suspicion arose when the accused’s version did not match CCTV evidence. The camera installed at his house was not working, prompting police to check footage from a house opposite.Further discrepancies were found in the accused’s timeline. He claimed he left for work at 6pm, but CCTV footage showed his motorcycle parked outside the house at that time.From 11pm to 12am, two men were seen carrying a heavy object wrapped in a blanket. One held it from the head side and the other from the legs, with the object appearing bent in a ‘C’ shape, indicating a human body, police said. However, he claimed it was wood for lighting a fire near the railway station. After being confronted, Jishan confessed that he harboured resentment after discovering intimate photographs of his sister on Suheb’s phone two years ago.Police said the accused believed the stretch near the railway line had no CCTV coverage and chose the drain to throw the body.Following his disclosure, police, with assistance from MCG, found his body in the drain.
