Noida: A 38-year-old man allegedly jumped to his death from his 16th-floor flat in Greater Noida’s Paramount Emotions society on Tuesday evening following a fight with his wife and sister-in-law.
Police said the couple frequently argued, often after the man consumed alcohol. On Tuesday afternoon, too, an altercation broke out over his drinking habit. Later in the evening, police said, he argued with his sister-in-law, with the dispute escalating into a brief scuffle.“After the argument, he went towards the balcony. Before his wife could intervene, the man jumped from the 16th floor,” a senior police officer said. Security guards and residents took him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. According to police, the victim was unemployed, while his wife worked with an IT firm. The couple has a seven-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Preliminary probe indicated the family had been under stress for some time, with tensions linked to unemployment, alcohol use and financial difficulties, officials said.A senior officer at Bisrakh police station said no written complaint has been submitted by his family so far. “His wife has denied any allegations and stated that she is not responsible for the incident,” he said. The body was sent for autopsy and the report is awaited.
