Times News NetworkChandigarh: Cyber police arrested a man in connection with an online case involving uploading and transmission of child sexual exploitation and abusive material. Police also recovered a mobile phone and other electronic devices from the possession of the accused, Joginder, 32, a resident of Manimajra.Chandigarh cyber crime police arrested Joginder after receiving a cyber tipline report through the national cyber crime reporting portal. The report indicated that an alleged social media account uploaded and transmitted objectionable content involving a minor.Police examined technical analysis and IP details provided in the report, traced the IP address through the internet service provider, and obtained subscriber details. Call detail records and other digital evidence corroborated the findings.Based on preliminary enquiry and digital evidence, police registered a case under Section 67-B of the Information Technology Act, 2000, at the cyber police station in Sector 17.During investigation, the cyber crime team identified and located the accused, Joginder, and arrested him from Manimajra. Police also recovered electronic devices used in the commission of the offence for forensic examination. Police said forensic support was provided by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the ministry of home affairs, enabling swift identification and arrest of the suspects.Chandigarh Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against crimes involving exploitation of children in the digital space. Police also appealed to citizens to report any such suspicious online activity through the national cyber crime reporting portal or by contacting local police authorities immediately.
