Hisar: A fast-track court in Fatehabad has convicted and sentenced 29-year-old Gaurav Soni alias Bhushan, a resident of Azad Nagar, Fatehabad, to 20 years in prison for kidnapping and raping a minor girl in a nearly two-and-a-half year old case.Additional sessions judge-cum-special judge (POCSO) Amit Garg also imposed a fine of Rs 1,75,000 on the accused.
The case was registered in Aug 2023 at Fatehabad City police station, based on the victim’s complaint. District attorney Devendra Mittal noted that the incident involved intimidation through threats of death and viral video dissemination.The victim alleged that the accused kidnapped and raped her, using threats to silence her. The police presented scientific evidence and witness statements in court, which the judge deemed credible.The court found Gaurav Soni guilty of the charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In addition to the 20-year imprisonment, a fine of Rs 1,75,000 was levied, emphasising the severity of offences against minors.MSID:: 128211153 413 |
