Man found hanging at farmhouse with hands bound

Gandhinagar: A 42-year-old migrant worker was found hanging from a tree at a farmhouse near a construction site in Raysan with his hands tied behind his back. The deceased was identified as Jagdev Paswan, a native of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Police said Paswan had a red scarf (gamcha) around his neck, while his hands were tied behind his back. The unusual circumstances led officers from Infocity police station and the local crime branch to begin a detailed probe. More than six persons have been questioned so far.

Infocity police inspector V R Kher said forensic experts were called to examine the scene. “We registered a case of accidental death, and further legal actions will be taken according to the forensic examination report,” said Kher.According to the FSL’s preliminary opinion, Paswan may have climbed the tree himself and fashioned a noose by tearing a portion of the scarf. The remaining piece was allegedly used to tie his own hands in a manner suggesting self-restraint to prevent escape during the act. No signs of struggle or suspicious marks were found at the scene. Relatives told police that Paswan suffered from mental health issues and often expressed fear that someone was trying to kill him. Police also learnt that he earlier was involved in a dispute between a contractor and a builder in Bihar and reportedly received threats.Police said the case could be reclassified if new evidence emerges.
