Noida: The 30-year-old man with his throat slit was found dead near a cremation ground in Sector Delta 2 on Monday. Police suspect the man died by suicide.Surajpur police received information through a Police Response Vehicle (PRV) that a body was found at the cremation ground. A police team reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. The man was identified as Rahul, a resident of Sakipur village, who worked as a taxi driver.After cut marks on the man’s neck and bloodstains on his hands, prompting senior police officers and a forensic team to conduct a detailed inspection of the scene. Samples were collected and evidence documented as part of the investigation.Rahul’s family members told cops that he had struggled with an addiction to marijuana for quite a few years, and his wife had separated from him as a result. They said that Rahul had suffered from depression, and has not been working for the past four days. They also told cops that Rahul had mentioned more than once that he would die by suicide, police said. On Sunday, Rahul left the house without informing anyone. Police said that preliminary findings at the spot led cops to believe that Rahul may have slit his own throat at the crematorium grounds using a vegetable knife he had brought with him from his house.Police said that the matter was being thoroughly investigated to rule out all possibilities. The body was taken into custody by the police, and necessary legal formalities were completed, before the body was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. The post-mortem report will play a crucial role in confirming whether the death was indeed a case of suicide, they added.
