Gurgaon: A 30-year-old scooterist was killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident near IFFCO Chowk on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday.According to the FIR lodged at DLF Phase-II police station, the victim, Ambuj Sharma (31), worked as a helper at a supermarket in DLF Phase-III and lived with his brothers in Sukhrali village. He was returning home after finishing his night shift when the accident took place.Police said the incident occurred between 1 am and 2 am on the service road near a liquor warehouse close to IFFCO Chowk. Sharma was riding his scooter towards the Sukhrali flyover when an unidentified vehicle rammed into him. The impact threw him onto the road, causing critical injuries and damaging the 2-wheeler. The driver fled the spot. Passersby took Sharma to Max Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.Based on his brother’s complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (causing death by negligence) and 324(4) (mischief and thereby causes loss or damage) of BNS. In another incident, a 32-year-old man died after a trailer rammed into a tractor on Dwarka Expressway near Elan Mall on Sunday. The victim, Jitendra Singh, worked at an iron rod shop in Sector 103. Police said Jitendra was seated beside the driver, Shiv Kumar, when a 22-tyre trailer hit the tractor from behind. The impact caused the tractor to overturn. Jitendra fell onto the road and was run over by the truck. He was first taken to Kathuria Hospital on Khandsa Road, where doctors declared him unfit to give a statement. He was later shifted to Artemis Hospital in Sector 51. Due to financial constraints, the family moved him to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where he died during treatment.An FIR was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS.Police said efforts are underway to nab the truck driver and examine CCTV footage from the stretch of Dwarka Expressway.
