Gurdaspur: A 55-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after being distressed over the humiliation of his son during a wedding-related dispute. The deceased, Rajinder Kumar, reportedly consumed poison at his residence .Rajinder’s wife, Neeru Sharma, told mediapersons on Wednesday that a wedding ceremony was underway at a house in their neighbourhood, and their son, returning home on an e-rickshaw, asked the family hosting the wedding to move their vehicles and make way for smooth movement of traffic. This enraged the hosts, who allegedly beat the youngster severely.On learning about the assault, Rajinder Kumar rushed to the scene to intervene. He pleaded with the assailants to spare his son, but the accused allegedly continued to beat both father and son, humiliating them in front of others.Shocked by the incident, Rajinder returned home and consumed poison, said Neeru.CCTV footage of the assault on the youngster has surfaced. The incident occurred on Feb 2. The police have registered a case and launched the investigation.
