Mumbai: Bombay high court on Wednesday orally said it would be constrained to disband the court-appointed committee, if the latter does not cooperate, and does not take proper measures to address the root cause of the sewage and drainage problem in Kulgaon-Badlapur city.The HC expressed displeasure at the lackadaisical attitude of the Badlapur Municipal Council and instructed Thane district collector look into the issue and be proactive. The district collector was instructed to find a suitable person to be appointed as an expert on the committee.Last year, the HC expressed “serious concern” over the lack of a drainage system and sewerage facilities leading to pollution of the Ulhas River in what it described as Thane district’s “most developing suburbs”, the Kulgaon-Badlapur municipal area, with a population of around five lakh, and directed the setting up of an “improvement committee for Kulgaon-Badlapur Municipal area” to ensure guidance for appropriate urban development.
