Prayagraj: Magh Mela police have rolled out a “zero error” plan for Maghi Purnima snan on Feb 1, expecting 1-1.5 crore devotees. Traffic regulation is the focus, as most kalpwasis are expected to head home after the snan. This follows a massive turnout of over 3.56 crore on Basant Panchami snan.Mela cops have announced a strict no-vehicle zone in and around the campus, prioritizing vehicles exiting the area. Separate entry and exit routes for seven directions have been finalized to manage traffic on Feb 1-2. Police have geared up for extra crowds, anticipating a Sunday holiday boost.The mela police have strategically deployed a strong posse of 15,000 policemen to manage traffic and crowds at 32 static points. Top officials are pulling out all stops for a “zero error” Maghi Purnima snan, aiming to leave a lasting impression. With 24 ghats buzzing, traffic management is key, ensuring smooth exits from the mela campus.Talking to TOI, SP (Magh Mela) Neeraj Pandey said, “Since the mela witnessed a huge footfall on main snan days, we expect a similar or higher turnout on Maghi Purnima. Cops are on high alert mode, and all necessary measures are in place to ensure all devotees have a safe and blissful snan and their safe return.”Devotees have been asked to keep it moving — no loitering on ghats post-bath, and please eat/drink elsewhere. The mela area will be a strict no-vehicle zone till crowds clear, with one-way traffic, entry restrictions, and barricades. 8-tier security and joint police-paramilitary teams at 32 points will keep things in checkTight security is in place at key entry points like New Yamuna, Shastri, and Phaphmau bridges. Extra PAC and bike patrols are on high alert, and pontoon bridges have special traffic management.Two dedicated police teams have been set up to communicate regularly with devotees through public announcements on loudspeakers, urging them to follow rules and avoid creating congestion on entry and exit routes.
