LU’s asst proctor manhandled during students’ clash

Lucknow: An assistant proctor of the Lucknow University (LU) was allegedly manhandled on Saturday when he tried to intervene in a face-off between two student groups — one comprising members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and another owing allegiance to the joint forum National Students Union of India and Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha .The incident took place outside social works department where the NSUI and SCS students were staging a protest against alleged bias of the LU administration in giving permission to student bodies to hold programmes on the campus. They said that LU denies permission to NSUI and SCS to hold academic discussions in the university, but allows ABVP to organise such events.
