Ludhiana civic leadership vows quality-driven development.

Ludhiana: In a rare show of unified civic leadership, mayor Inderjit Kaur, senior deputy mayor Rakesh Prashar, and deputy mayor Prince Johar convened at the mayor’s camp office near Rose Garden on Wednesday evening to overhaul the city’s development strategy. The meeting focused on a “non-discriminatory” approach to infrastructure, emphasizing that progress must reach every ward in Ludhiana regardless of political affiliation. The city’s top three officials issued a stern warning to municipal corporation (MC) staff regarding the execution of public projects. With “projects worth crores” currently in the pipeline, the leadership team established a new framework for accountability:Officials were directed to ensure that construction and infrastructure materials meet strict quality benchmarks. The mayor and deputy mayors confirmed they have begun unannounced field visits to monitor project sites and sanitation levels personally. A zero-tolerance policy was announced for negligence. “Strict action will be taken against officials if anomalies are found in relation to cleanliness or project integrity in their respective areas,” the leadership stated in a joint briefing.Strengthening Waste ManagementA significant portion of the deliberations centered on Solid Waste Management (SWM), an area that has historically challenged the city’s “Clean and Green” goals. The meeting outlined steps to modernize the collection and processing cycle, aiming to move beyond temporary fixes to a sustainable, long-term model for the city’s refuse.Rising Above Party LinesIn a notable departure from typical local politics, the leaders emphasized a bipartisan commitment to the city’s residents. “We are working for the overall development of the city, rising above party lines,” the officials shared. “Our goal is to ensure that quality infrastructure is a reality for every citizen, not just a promise.” The leadership reaffirmed that they would continue to hold regular review meetings and field checks to maintain the momentum of these multi-crore urban development projects.
