The Pune Municipal Corporation released a list of winning candidates in English, wherein several Marathi names were inadvertently transliterated — creating unintended humour and confusion.

Anandi became ‘Joy’, Swapnil Dudhane was ‘Dreamt of by milk’ and Sutar was listed as ‘Carpenter’. The literal translations stood out for the odd phrasing, which probably was a by-product of AI converting Marathi names into English.Fire Extinguishers Turned Party PropsFire extinguishers were repurposed as celebration tools, filled with powder colour and sprayed to mark victories of candidate across Pune. The practice was seen in multiple areas, with party supporters openly using these colour-filled extinguishers.

The unusual props caught the eye for their novelty, adding a dramatic and unconventional element to victory scenes across the city.Victory Declared Before Counting EndsIn Warje, supporters of contestant Sachin Dodke put up a congratulatory hoarding declaring his win hours before the ballot counting process was completed. The premature celebration left many smiling, especially since a similar hoarding had announced him the winner much before he actually lost in the assembly elections in 2024. Meanwhile, supporters of Ganesh Bidkar in Kasba also put up a hoarding announcing him as Pune’s next mayor.Gulaal Takes Over Streets, Adds To Traffic CongestionVictory celebrations spilled onto city roads with party workers covering streets with powder colour. Supporters gathered in large numbers across the Peth areas, Tilak Road, Paud Road and other localities, throwing gulaal and celebrating openly. However, all this led to heavy traffic congestion, slowing movement of commuters and emergency vehicles during peak hours.Candidate Climbs Fence at Counting CentreNCP leader Rupali Thombare Patil objected to the counting process, alleging a mismatch between the EVM numbers shared earlier and those used during counting. Her protest led to a temporary halt in the process, as she tried to climb over a fence at the centre. Police personnel had to to intervene.
