Gandhinagar: The number of applications for new liquor permits in Ahmedabad increased by 227% in a year, the Gujarat govt informed in the assembly on Monday.In response to a question by Congress MLA Imran Khedawala, govt said in a written statement that 292 new liquor applications were made between Jan 21, 2024 and Jan 20, 2025. Between Jan 21, 2025 and Jan 20, 2026, the number of new applications made for liquor permits was 956.
Govt added that between Jan 21, 2024 and Jan 20, 2025, 29 applications for liquor permits were rejected, while no applications were rejected between Jan 21, 2025 and Jan 20, 2026.
