Bengaluru: Fear has gripped Veerasagara village in Nelamangala taluk, following frequent sightings of a leopard in the area over the past three months.The big cat reportedly roamed within village limits and preyed on livestock and stray dogs. In a recent incident, a leopard killed a goat and a calf belonging to a local resident, Nagaraju. Just three days ago, it reportedly attacked and carried away two pet dogs owned by another villager, Siddaraju.Villagers also reported repeated attacks on stray dogs, with the leopard often seen chasing and carrying them away. Adding to the alarm, CCTV footage emerged showing the leopard chasing a street dog through village streets, lending credence to residents’ fears.Locals alerted the Nelamangala range forest officials. However, villagers alleged they were yet to take concrete steps to rescue the animal. Residents feared for their safety, particularly during early morning and night hours, and urged the authorities to act swiftly before the situation turned worse.
