Leopard kills cow in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: A leopard killed a cow in Poladpur, Raigad recently, that have left the locals scared. The forest department has warned the locals to remain cautious.The incident was reported in the remote hilly area of Mahalagur Morewadi. The cow owner Ashok More had noticed leopard tooth wounds on the neck and deep claw scratches on the stomach of the cow lying in a pool of blood in the forest area. The big wild cat had devoured the meat near the cow’s tail, confirming that it was a leopard. After getting information, forest guards Bajirao Pawar and Amol Rokade rushed to spot and conducted the panchnama. Officials appealed to the citizens not to be panic, not to leave children alone, and avoid travelling alone at night. Poladpur range forest office had not reported any signs of leopard presence in the wildlife census conducted last month. However, photos of leopards passing in front of vehicles during the election period went viral in the Kotwal area.
