Jaipur: Nine is fine for Lance Watson. The Team Jaipur Aravali star lived up to his big reputation to guide his team to triumph in the Raffles Sirmour Cup (14-goal) at the Rajasthan Polo Club Ground here on Sunday.The South African player slammed nine goals as Team Jaipur Aravali rallied back to beat Team Carysil Suhana 14-10 in a high-scoring thriller witnessed by hundreds of polo lovers of the Pink City.
In a six-chukker summit clash, Team Carysil Suhana were leading by 4-3 at the end of the second chukker. However, Jaipur Aravali staged a remarkable recovery thanks to Watson’s magnificent display.Manuel Fernandez Llorente provided excellent support with 4 goals, while Padmanabh Singh added one goal. Pratap Singh Kanota also played for the team.Matias Vial, plus six handicap player, waged a lone battle for Team Carysil Suhana with 8 goals. Manuel Prado scored a couple of goals. Kuldeep Singh Rathore and Ashok Chandna were the other members of the side.Padmini Devi was the chief guest, while chief of staff, SW Command, Lt Gen Padam Singh Shekhawat was the guest of honour.Next week, the Jaipur Open for Brig HH Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh, MVC Cup (14-goals) will be played. The final of this cup will be played on February 21 at the Rajasthan Polo Club Ground.
