Lamborghini owner replaces silencer, gets relief in court

Bengaluru: The Karnataka high court has stayed proceedings against a city resident booked for rash driving after videos of his loud Lamborghini surfaced online.Justice M Nagaprasanna passed the interim order while hearing a petition filed by BR Chiranth, a resident of CV Raman Nagar, east Bengaluru. The court noted that Chiranth had already paid the fine imposed for the violations and had replaced the retrofitted silencer that caused excessive noise.

In view of this, the court decided to stall further probe against the petitioner until the next hearing on Feb 6. The judge added that appropriate orders will be passed at the stage of closure if the proceedings are found to be in Chiranth’s favour.Kengeri traffic police had registered a suo motu case after videos showing the Maharashtra-registered Lamborghini being driven in a reckless manner went viral on social media. The incidents were reported to have taken place on Dec 14 and Dec 19, 2025.Despite the fine being taken for the offences under Indian Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the crime was registered on the ground that the driver hadn’t changed the retrofitted silencer. Chiranth then moved court, claiming the fine had been paid and the retrofitted silencer changed.
