Kulpi woman dies of heart attack, family blames ‘SIR anxiety’

Kolkata: A 68-year-old Kulpi woman’s death on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest prompted her family to blame the SIR process. Asma Sardar, of Nagnon village, was a pensioner. She lived with her only son, Rakib, who is a person with disabilities. According to Rakib, the 2002 list had the name Asma Sardar, but with her documents saying Asma ‘Bibi’ instead, a notice was served. Relatives claimed that Asma had almost stopped eating since. Kulpi MLA Jogaranjan Halder assured assistance to the family.
