Chennai: A sports ground upgraded at a cost of 7.05 crore with modern facilities in Kottur was inaugurated on Monday and opened for public use. The project was implemented by CMDA and inaugurated by health and family welfare minister Ma Subramanian and Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE) minister P K Sekarbabu.Subramanian said that under the guidance of the CM, several new sports facilities and modern community welfare centres are being developed across Greater Chennai through GCC and CMDA.The facility includes an administrative block, gymnasium, indoor sports hall, boxing arena and training room, spectator seating, outdoor fitness area, children’s play equipment, CCTV surveillance, a 200-metre walking track, two-wheeler parking, and water infrastructure including a 20,000litre underground sump and two overhead tanks of 2,000 litres each. The sports ground, spread over 1.3 acres, includes facilities covering around 3,200sqft.
