Lucknow: The menace of a strong kite string (manjha) continues to pose a threat on city roads with a junior doctor of KGMU becoming the latest victim.Dr Deepak Gupta, a junior resident in the community medicine department, was injured after coming in contact with manja around 10 am on Wednesday while riding his bike near the Charak crossing flyover on way to Alambagh.According to officials, the string suddenly slit across his face while he was in motion. Fortunately, he was wearing a helmet, which prevented a major injury. He sustained a superficial cut on his nose and required three sutures. This marks the 12th such incident reported in the past one month.Chief Medical Superintendent Prof Prem Raj said the outcome could have been far worse. “Though this case was minor, it could have turned serious. We appeal to govt to intensify drives against the use of such hazardous strings,” he said, urging strict enforcement to prevent further injuries.
