Hyderabad: Stating that BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao never claimed to be the ‘father of Telangana’, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the people of Telangana had conferred the title on him in recognition of his sacrifices and uncompromising fight to achieve a separate state. Indirectly referring to chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks questioning calling KCR the ‘father of Telangana’ and the ‘race’ (Jaathi) he belonged to, KTR said there are only two ‘races’ in Telangana.“One race comprises Telangana supporters and the other, Telangana traitors. Those who brandished guns against Telangana supporters do not understand this. We all belong to a lineage of fighters such as Rani Rudrama, Komaram Bheem, Chakali Ilamma, Doddi Komaraiah and other fighters,” KTR said.
Speaking at the former chief minister’s birthday celebrations at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, KTR said some people claim they would erase KCR’s legacy, which is not possible. “KCR built a strong Telangana without money or media power and fought for 14 years,” he said.Recalling former Union minister Arun Jaitley’s remarks that those involved in the people’s movement cannot become good administrators, KTR said KCR proved himself to be not only the best agitator but also an able administrator. Meanwhile, BRS party leaders and workers celebrated KCR’s birthday across the state by organising various programmes, including cake-cutting events, distribution of fruits and plantation programmes. Thousands of people and party workers visited KCR’s farmhouse in Erravelli and greeted him personally.
