Bengaluru: From Monday, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will implement a 15% increase in its luggage charges. The revised charges will apply only to luggage exceeding the 30kg free limit for an adult and children are allowed 15kg. The previous such increase was in Dec 2021. Under the new order, if a passenger carries luggage exceeding 30kg, a charge of Rs 6 will be levied for the first 5 stages. Every six kilometres covered during the journey is considered as one stage. The steady climb reaches Rs 145 for stages 156 to 160, the maximum charge under the order. The hike, according to the corporation, is due to the increase in diesel, staff, and other costs. “The luggage fare increase always coincides with the bus fare hike. Last year, in Jan 2025, the bus fare was increased, but the luggage fare was not. This adjustment will take effect starting tomorrow,” a spokesperson said.
