Karnataka police stations to observe Victims’ Day every 3rd Sunday

Bengaluru: To make policing more public-friendly and improve citizen engagement, the state police have decided to observe the third Sunday of every month as Victims’ Day at all police stations.Director general and inspector general of police (DG&IGP) MA Saleem said Saturday that station house officers (SHOs) will interact with victims and others seeking to lodge complaints or obtain updates on ongoing investigations.The initiative aims to improve communication, accountability and timely redressal of grievances. The directive from the DG&IGP also said that related aspects of cases, including the recording of statements of witnesses and other concerned persons, should be reviewed and facilitated on Victims’ Day.
