Kharagpur: A Kargil war veteran and confidential assistant to the West Midnapore DM has been summoned for an SIR hearing at the Midnapore Sadar BDO office on Jan 29.Arun Kumar Ditya said he would take his Army pension documents, his parents’ voter ID cards, his secondary school certificate, admit card and other relevant documents to the hearing.Born in 1976 in Temathani, Sabang, Ditya’s name was registered in the Midnapore 236 assembly at 144 South Amchata Primary School. He joined the Army Supply Corps as a sepoy in Gaya on Jan 4, 1996, and served in Gulmarg, Tinsukia, Bangalore, Delhi, Srinagar, Nagpur, Nagaland and Amritsar, before taking VRS in Bangalore in 2017.Ditya said he registered his name on the voter list in 1998 at his home address in Sabang. Due to his Army duties, he rarely visited home, which resulted in his name being absent from the 2002 list. In 2019, he joined the DM’s office in Midnapore as a clerk, and in 2020, he re-registered his name. He also updated his address.The 49-year-old former havildar was responsible for preparing the list of forces on duty during the Kargil War in 1999.
