Kanpur। The Commissionerate Police has arrested nine gamblers from Naughada of Badshahi Naka police station area late on Wednesday night. At the same time, 10 gamblers including the kingpin managed to escape. During the search of the arrested accused, the police recovered Rs 104100 in cash, nine mobile phones and two decks of cards.
ADCP East Anjali Vishwakarma, who disclosed the case on Thursday at the ACP Cantt office in Cantt, said that late on Wednesday night, the Crime Branch team led by ACP Cantt Akanchha Pandey conducted a raid there. But, when the gamblers got wind of it, they started running away from there.
On this, the police team surrounded and arrested Neeraj, Sarvesh, Rinku Singh, Mohd Asif, Om Prakash Singh, Mahesh Kumar, Vishal Agrahari, Raunak, Ajay Sharma.
Meanwhile, by chance, the kingpin Masoom Ali along with Sarwan, Javed alias Tota, Vishal Soni alias Sheelu, Nadeem, Ravi Yadav, Raja, Kalu, Batan and Setu were successful in escaping.
Anjali Vishwakarma told that along with checking the criminal history of the arrested accused, they are also being sent to jail. The campaign against gamblers will continue in future also.
