Hyderabad: Junior Doctors’ Association (JUDA) has expressed serious concern over the continued delay in the release of arrears to junior doctors across Telangana for the Jan-June 2025 period. Despite completion of all procedural formalities and clearance of bills at the departmental level, the payments remain pending due to a lack of final govt approval, the association stated.JUDA reiterated its commitment to constructive dialogue with the govt but cautioned that it might be compelled to take appropriate action if the issue continues to remain unresolved.
In a press note issued on Tuesday, JUDA highlighted that the non-disbursement of stipends and arrears caused significant financial hardship to junior doctors working in govt teaching hospitals. The association emphasised that delays in payment were adversely affecting their morale, financial stability, and overall well-being.Members further noted that multiple representations and follow-ups were made with the concerned authorities since June 2025; however, no concrete action was taken so far. The prolonged delay, the association warned, could have serious academic and financial implications for several categories of doctors.According to JUDA, post-graduate doctors from the 2021 batch, who completed their MD and were currently serving as senior residents, risk losing their legitimate arrears. Similarly, doctors from the 2022 post-graduate batch, who recently transitioned into senior residency, might also be deprived of their dues if the issue remains unresolved. The uncertainty also extends to house surgeons and super-specialty post-graduate doctors, whose arrears are yet to be cleared.Appealing to the govt, JUDA urged immediate approval of the pending bills and prompt release of all arrears from Jan 2025. The association stated that timely disbursal would not only ease financial distress but also acknowledge the dedicated services rendered by junior doctors to public healthcare.
