Jaipur: The Junior Engineer (JEN) Combined Recruitment Examination 2020, which was previously scrapped due to a paper leak and reconducted in Sept 2021, has also been found to be compromised a second time. The special operations group (SOG) of Rajasthan police revealed this on Thursday as it continued to unravel a complex web of malpractice surrounding the exam process. The SOG had registered an FIR on Jan 19 and launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Ganpat Lal Bishnoi, an assistant engineer currently posted with the public works department (PWD) in Barmer.Bishnoi, a resident of Jalore district, allegedly passed the 2021 retest using a leaked question paper and secured 12th rank. He was later promoted. Bishnoi is alleged to have also played a key role in the paper leak racket.SOG’s additional director general Vishal Bansal said the initial FIR was filed following the compromised 2020 exam, which led to the arrests of several suspects. The new probe has revealed that the retest was also compromised.Bansal said that during the 2020 exam, which was originally conducted in Dec and subsequently cancelled due to paper leak, several candidates benefited from the organised paper leak mafia. Many of these candidates who were selected have since been promoted as assistant engineers (AENs).It has now become apparent that the same organised crime network, responsible for the original leak, was operating during the Sept 2021 retest, SOG officials said.
