Pune: The Pune city police and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials conducted an anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday and removed unauthorised hawkers and stalls as well as illegally parked vehicles from various roads and footpaths in Vimannagar.Joint police commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma said, “Over the last few days, we had received many complaints from residents about encroachment and other traffic woes in the neighbourhood. Our team checked and found encroachments all around.”

“Our team contacted the PMC authorities and a joint action was planned on Wednesday,” he said.Over 30 hawkers, handcarts and stalls were cleared from the roads and footpaths, while three truckloads of goods were removed.Sharma said, “We cleared the road connecting Dutta Mandir Chowk to Nico Garden, the road connecting the Law College Chowk to the Shubh Gateway Society and roads near the Mantri IT Park.”
