Jhansi: Jhansi-Lalitpur MP Anurag Sharma represented the state at the recently held 77th foundation day of Uttar Pradesh, also known as ‘UP Diwas’, in Hyderabad, while presenting the roadmap towards attaining the goal of a one trillion-dollar economy.The programme, held at the state Lok Bhawan (Raj Bhawan) and presided over by Telangana governor Jishnu Dev Varma, took place on Sunday.Governor Jishnu Dev Varma shared his deep connection and experiences related to UP. Praising its journey of becoming an “Uttam Pradesh”, he stated that UP’s development model now became an ideal for the entire country.Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Sharma emphasised that, after 2017, Uttar Pradesh broke its old image and became the world’s most preferred destination for investors, referring to it as an “Uttam Pradesh”. He said UP was rapidly moving forward with the goal of becoming a one trillion-dollar economy, citing strong law and order and transparent policies that led the state to surpass leading states in attracting investments and set a new benchmark.Calling the state’s development model “ideal”, Sharma said the assurance of security was the first step towards development. “Today’s Uttar Pradesh not only ranks number one in infrastructure development (Expressways and International Airports) but also leads in ease of doing business. Setting up and running industries in the state is now not only easy but also completely safe. This is why the state’s development model has become a source of inspiration for other states,” he said.Citing the example of his own region, Bundelkhand, Sharma said a region once considered backward in development now became the engine of the state’s economic progress. With the establishment of the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) and the Defence Corridor in Jhansi, the torch of industrial revolution was lit. Additionally, the establishment of Asia’s largest and historic Bulk Drug Park in Lalitpur is set to position UP as a global pharmaceutical hub.On this occasion, an exhibition under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative was also held, showcasing Banarasi sarees, Lucknowi chikankari, and wooden handicrafts.
