Jewellery worth Rs 60 lakh stolen from shop in Paliganj

Patna: Thieves stole cash and gold–silver jewellery worth around Rs 60 lakh from a jewellery store located at Pattu Bazar under Ranitalab police station of Paliganj subdivision in Patna on Friday night. The burglars broke in through the back wall of the shop and also took away the CCTV DVR. According to police, store owner Rajnish Kumar reported that 25–30 kg of silver, 150g of gold, and Rs 67,000 in cash were missing from the locker. Empty jewellery boxes have been recovered from the spot. FSL and dog squad teams are assisting in the investigation.

Rajnish’s neighbours informed him about the break-in on Thursday morning. On reaching the shop, he found the goods scattered and valuables worth Rs 50–60 lakh missing. The thieves had created a hole in the rear wall to enter and cut open the locker.Ranitalab SHO Bittu Kumar said the police team inspected the spot after receiving information from the shopkeeper. “The shutter is intact. The thieves entered from the back and committed the theft by cutting the locker. The CCTV DVR is also missing. Further investigation is underway,” he said.
