JEEMAIN 2016 Counseling Overview and Process

The JEEMAIN (Joint Entrance Examination – Main) 2016 counseling process was conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) for admissions to NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs. Here’s an overview of the counseling procedure:

  1. Registration & Choice Filling

    • Eligible candidates had to register online on the CSAB portal (http://csab.nic.in).

    • They had to fill their preferred colleges and branches in order of priority.

  2. Seat Allotment Rounds

    • The counseling had multiple rounds (Round 1, Round 2, etc.).

    • Seat allotment was based on JEE Main rank, choices filled, and seat availability.

  3. Seat Acceptance & Reporting

    • After seat allotment, candidates had to:

      • Accept the seat online (pay a partial fee).

      • Report to the allotted institute for document verification and admission.

  4. Withdrawal Option

    • Candidates could withdraw before the last round if they wished to exit the process.
