KOTA: An 18-year-old JEE aspirant from Haryana Sunday died by suicide by jumping before a moving train on the Delhi-Mumbai railway line under Udhyog Nagar police station limits in Kota.The deceased has been identified as Satkar Singh, a resident of Sirsa district in Haryana. This is the first suicide by a coaching student this year.
Police said no suicide note was recovered and on basis of the loco-pilot’s statement, termed the incident as suicide. On report by family members, the police registered a case of abetment of suicide under Section 108 of BNS to ascertain the actual reason for death. Satkar had been studying in Class 12 and preparing for JEE at a coaching institute in Kota for two years, while living in a hostel room in city’s Rajiv Gandhi Nagar area. Circle inspector Jitendra Singh of Udhyog Nagar police station said the body was recovered from the Delhi-Mumbai railway line. According to the loco pilot, who informed police, the teen jumped before the moving train with the intent to die by suicide, the officer said, adding no suicide note was found in his possession. The family of the deceased reached Kota Monday after which police registered the case under Section 108 of BNS for investigation, the officer said, declining to specify the nature of the alleged abetment. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem Monday. Satkar had reportedly completed his JEE preparation course at the institute in Kota and was scheduled to return home by train on Jan 25. Police said that in his last mobile conversation with his father, the teen said his train was running three hours late, though it was not, and that he had stopped at the railway station.
