Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is planning a pedestrian subway from the Ramniwas Bagh parking area to Ramleela Maidan and Bapu Bazaar. The proposal aims to ease pedestrian movement in the busy market zone and reduce traffic pressure in the walled city.JDA commissioner Siddharth Mahajan Thursday inspected Ramniwas Bagh and the parking facility located there. He directed officials to explore ways to ensure maximum utilisation of the parking area and to examine feasibility of a pedestrian subway from there to Ramleela Maidan and Bapu Bazaar. He instructed that a detailed feasibility report be prepared at the earliest. Mahajan clarified that any decision on the project would be taken only after reviewing the report.Keeping in mind needs of local and foreign tourists visiting Ramniwas Bagh, officials were also directed to consider developing additional facilities and attractions to make the area more appealing from a tourism perspective.Later, Mahajan inspected the underpass connecting SMS Hospital with the trauma centre and instructed officials to ensure the early auction of remaining shops located in the underpass.
